Change of Programme Requests 2025/26 |
A student may request to change programme for the current academic year by the end of week 2: Friday 10th October 2025, or for February starters, by the end of week 21, Friday 20th February 2026.
A student may make a mid-year request to change programme for the next academic year but this will result in a Leave of Absence (a suspension of studies for the remainder of the current academic year). Mid-year requests must be received prior to Friday 12th June 2026.
A student may request to change programme for the next academic year at the end of a level of study (i.e. after results are released), subject to meeting the requirements of the regulations (e.g. passing the year).
Change of Programme – Guidance
- Seek academic advice – speak to your current Programme Leader or Academic Tutor Ensure you meet the entry requirements of the new course and speak to the new Programme Leader
- Seek funding advice -email sfw@dmu.ac.uk if you need to study an additional year International students should seek advice from immigrationcompliance@dmu.ac.uk.
- Check the timeline – Please be aware of the timeline as outlined in the Academic Regulations. You may be required to interrupt your studies (leave of absence) or complete your current programme before changing programe
- Apply online – submit your request to change programme via the My Student Record Changes Requests tile on MyDMU
- Await a decision – Your application to change programme will be sent to the Accepting Programme Leader (and Immigration Compliance for international students). Once a decision has been confirmed you will be notified via email. Please be aware of any conditions. Please contact the Accepting Programme Leader if you do not receive a response within 4 days. The Student Advice Centre will contact the Programme Leader/Immigration Compliance if no response is received.
- International students only: both the Accepting Programme Leader and Immigration Compliance must approve– if a new visa or CAS is required you may need to reapply to change programme at a later date.
